About James

A local partner who happens to know how to grow nonprofits.

James Araya works in nonprofit finance, and has watched nonprofits leave funding on the table because nobody had the time to chase it.

Araya Advisory started from a simple question: what if a nonprofit had a funding partner who brought real financial discipline to the work?

James works with organizations across Texas and Louisiana. Not a national firm, just someone you can actually talk to, who knows which funders are paying attention in both states.

A look at who we work with.

A closer look at two of the nonprofits we work with, and what that support actually looks like.

Algiers Economic Development Foundation

New Orleans, Louisiana · 501(c)(3) since 1992

A community organization working on economic development in Algiers, supporting local businesses and the programs that keep the neighborhood's economy moving.

What we do for them: we write and submit funding applications on their behalf, ranging from local foundations to national corporate funders. Alongside that, we provide consulting services supporting the formation of their FY2026–27 budget, including its financial structure and presentation.

Pirates Promise

Slidell, Louisiana · Equine rescue

An off-the-track Thoroughbred rescue that takes in racehorses at the end of their careers, rehabilitates them, and finds them adoptive homes.

What we do for them: we are building the foundation for sustained grant funding, through a full readiness review, strengthening the records and adoption policies funders look for, and facilitating a partnership with a national equine adoption program that opens both credibility and new funding routes.
